Loving Lately #2 {Hair Care, current favourite lip combo & more}

Sadly I didn’t make it to publish a Loving Lately post last month, because I’ve been super busy. First I took a trip to Paris and then the semester started which always means the total stress breakout (books to read, speeches to write and so on). But I finally found time to sit down to think about my current favourite products and here they are. Enjoy!

Catrice Absolute Bright Eyeshadow Palette

I bought this eyeshadow palette a few weeks back and didn’t touch it for quite a while, because I didn’t come up with any ideas how to use it. But after swatching the colours and experimenting with different combinations I fell in love with the eyeshadows. A) They’re very pigmented, which is important with such light colours if you wan’t them to show up on the skin. B) I feel like they can make any eye colour pop because they’re indeed, like the name of the palette indicates, extremely bright.

Currently I’ve been blending the yellow and light pink shade together for everyday use and for a little more intense look I’ve been applying one of the colours to the entire lid and blended a darker brown shade into the crease to define everything a little more.

L’Oreal Paris Ever Pure Sulfate-Free Color Care System Series {moisture formula}

When it comes to hair care I’m usually not that picky, because my hair doesn’t respond to fancy hair care products anyways. But recently I had to discover that there’s one hair care line that in fact does have an impact on how my hair feels and looks and that is the L’Oreal Ever Pure Sulfate-Free Color Care System with the formula for moisture.

I’m growing out my blonde hair for over a year now and therefore am in a state of hair detox, which means: NO colour touch ups at all, and that already since March of last year. Ever since this hair detox journey I’ve come to realize that my hair gets healthier and healthier. Well at least the newly grown parts. The grown out dyed parts however tend to get really dry and brassy which is no wonder at all, because they haven’t been re-coloured for over a year now. But with using this L’Oreal hair care series including the shampoo & conditioner, the deep repair masque, a leave in treatment and a UV-protection spray I’m in really good hands. {I will try to get a hair care post up on the blog asap, in which I explain in depth why and how I use which product}

Catrice blush in Apropos Apricot

I have to admit, I’m a sucker for all Catrice blushes. I have every single shade available, because I can’t get enough of them. For spring and summer I love really bright pink shades as well as pretty apricot shades. Because I’ve been wearing a lot of light shades (pastels like in the Catrice Absolute Bright) in my eye make up, I need something fresh on my cheeks as well. Catrice Apropos Apricot blush is just perfect for this. It may look really bright in the pan but it looks so soft and fresh on the skin. Also it’s super easy to blend so if you once get too much product on your cheeks you can easily soften it out.

Maybelline Fit Me stick in Soft Honey / Miel (315)

My favourite part of doing my makeup is contouring. It does the biggest difference and therefore I’m always on the hunt for new contour products. I’ve been hearing a lot of great thing about the Maybelline Fit Me sticks not as a foundation but as a cream contour product. I’m using the shade 315 Soft Honey / Miel to carve out my cheekbones, line my nose and add some depth on my forehead and jawline. After blending everything in and adding a translucent powder and use my Sleek Contour kit or a regular bronzer to set the contour lines in place.

KIKO Smart lipstick in 910 and NYX butter gloss in Merengue

For every time of the year there’s this one lip colour I can’t live without. In the summertime I live in bright shades like pink and orange but also like to do a very girly sweet lip in a light pink shade. I discovered the KIKO smart lipstick in the shade 910 a while back and knew it was going to be my go to summer shade. But as a always wear two lip products on top of each other I’ve been looking for a perfect match. As the hype for the NYX butter glosses are intense I went out to try them and of course fell for them. I found that the shade Merengue is a close match to my KIKO lipstick so I’m topping them on one another. I Love both products A) because of their awesome smell, B) they both taste like vanilla (not joking, it’s true!) and C) the colours are oh so pretty.

Loving Lately #1

So I decided to start a new series here on my blog called Loving Lately. In this category I will be posting my current favourites on a regular basis. Products mentioned will include make up products, fashion items, hair care favourites and more. Stay tuned. ❤

Real Techniques “Expert Face Brush”

I already bought this brush about half a year ago but kind of forgot about it. Recently I re-discovered it in my make up brush collection, and have been using it ever since. The Real Techniques expert face brush is a very fluffy and soft foundation brush which promises high definition results. Even though the brush is ought to be used for liquid and cream foundations, I am currently using it with a mousse foundation which works perfectly as well. I really like the way the expert face brush feels on my skin, which is an absolute must for any foundation brush I try. Another thing I love about it is, that with the expert face brush a litle bit of foundation goes a long way because it blends out the product so beautifully.

L’Oreal Heat Protect Spray

I’ve been looking for a good heat protectant for ages now and just couldn’t be satisfied with any of the ones I tried. They either left me with a big mess of dry hair or disappointed me in a million other ways.  Luckily I got my hands on the L’Oreal Heat Protect Spray (the one with the straight formula) because i’ve been loving it. It leaves my hair so, so, so soft and shiny which really gives me the feeling that the spray really does protect my hair from all the heat I use on it. Also, as opposed to a lot of other heat protect sprays, the L’Oreal one has a very convenient spray nozzle. I know that sounds like a weird thing to wish for in a spray bottle but i just can’t stand the usual kind of nozzles that come with other sprays. I like the ones with the grip because they make the application ten times easier.

Catrice Liquid Liner

As a cat eye addict, it’s only natural for me to be on a constant hunt for the perfect liner. Anyone like me who wears winged eyeliner on (almost) a daily basis, know what a struggle it is to have like 2 seconds in the morning to perfect the wing. Since I first started to use eyeliner i’ve gone trough a ton of different brands, brush types, formulas and so on. Some of them I liked, some of them I hated but until now there was only one that I loved and that is the Catrice Liquid Liner in “Dating Joe Black”. The liner has a ultra thin felt tip which not only makes it very easy to line the upper lashes, it also makes it foolproof to perfect the cat eye. Also, it dries to a matte finish which makes it very classy, chic and appropriate for the daytime. I am really happy with this liquid liner and I am pretty sure it will stay in my make up collection for a very long time.

Coconut Oil

I know the hype for coconut oil has been going around for a while now and I fell for it a long time ago, so I figured I had to include it in my current faves. I literally use coconut oil for everything. I use it on my hair, my nails, my teeth, my skin, just the whole body. And as all the ways I use it would make this post like ten pages long, I decided to dedicate a whole blog post to coconut oil, which will be coming soon.

Gogo Philip & Walt Disney Mickey Mouse Necklace

Ever since I found the brand Gogo Philip on Asos I’ve been ordering their jewelry. The just make the cutest stuff and they are really affordable. I just recently got this cute Mickey Mouse Necklace by them and have been loving it because it’s so dainty and cute. I just wanted to include this necklace in this post because I just found out it’s on sale on Asos.

Essence Longlasting Lipsticks

What can I say. I’ve never been so amazed by a drugstore lipstick, like I’ve been by the Essence longlasting lipsticks. It’s just everything I love about them. The colour payoff is honestly amazing and the formula is so creamy and hydrating to the lips that they almost feel like chapsticks. Also I really like the wide colour range, which is not that typical for a drugstore brand. Speaking of drugstore, I can’t get over the fact that these lipsticks are drugstore products because they are just too perfect.

The ones I’m currently loving are: Barely There and Natural Beauty (which both are gorgeous dark nude shades), Colour Crush and Cotton Candy (which are really bright pink tones) and Love Me (which I’ve been loving for everyday use)

Essence XXXL Longlasting Lipgloss Mirror Shine Effect

Shortly after I fell in love with the Essence longlasting lipsticks, I also discovered my love for the matching lipglosses in the mirror shine formula. The Essence longlasting lipglosses with mirror shine effect are very creamy, the pigmentation is really good and the applicator also is really convenient to use. Besides that I also really love the smell and the taste of these lipglosses because it’s kind of vanilla-ish, which is a smell and taste I really love.

The colours I tried and love so far are: baby doll’s favourite (a coral/peach shade which I like to mix with the Essence longlasting lipstick in “Love Me”), verry berry ( a gorgeous light pink shade for everyday use) and i love pink (which is a bright true pink colour)

Dr. Hauschka Mascara

I usually only buy drugstore mascaras, but when I recently stepped into the organic grocery store, they had a little cosmetics counter there where I found the Dr. Hauschka mascara, which kind of stood out to me, which is why I bought it. As Dr. Hauschka is an all organic brand, I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed by the formula but still was afraid is I was going to be satisified with the result of the mascara. Now that I’ve been using the mascara for about 3 weeks I’ve got to say I really like it. The smell is amazing, the formula doesn’t make my eyes burn and my lashes look amazing. What I’ve been loving the most about the Dr. Hauschka mascara is, how it makes my lashes so incredibly soft. That’s really something I love but have not found in a lot of products yet.

KIKO Precision Eyebrow Pencil

I’m one of those persons which is never satisfied with how their brow looks. That’s why I’m constantly trying ot new bow products. I’ve been through powders, pencils, gels and pomades. A lot of things didn’t work for me but when I discovered the KIKO precision eyebrow pencil I instantly fell in love. It’s a very slim pencil (slimmer than usual brow pencils) which makes it easy to pencil in the brows while getting a natural looking result. Also it’s not very creamy, which is perfect for an eyebrw pencil. In my opinion, creamy brow pencils just give off to much colour, leaving you with a thick brown line above your eye. The Kiko pencil however, just gives off the perfect amount of product.

In case you’re wondering how you’re going to sharpen this pencil because of it’s unusual size: it comes with an own sharpener which is sticking in the top of the packing.

Sleek Makeup Contour Kit

Theres no thing I love as much as contouring. That’s a step in my make up routine I almost never skip because I just feel like it’s necessary. That’s why I’m constantly looking for new products to try out to perfect my contour and highlight. I’ve been using the Sleek Contour Kit in the shade light for quite a while now and I’m super pleased with it. The contour shade might be a bit too dark for my very fair skin (since I stopped fake tanning) but with proper blending it works very good and gives a very nice contour line. The highlight shade is just amazing. It’s perfect. All the highlighters I tried so far were either too shimmery (in terms of having too many sparkles) or didn’t pay off enough colour. The highlight shade in the Sleek contour kit looks very nice on the skin, leaving you with a beautiful natural glow.
