Back with a little DIY today, I’m currently obsessed with the macrame technique some of you may know, it’s such an easy and fun way to create unique bracelets 🙂
BTW note that this is my FIRST post in English, so don’t be too hard with me for language mistakes 🙂
A few weeks ago I spotted a gorgeous neon cord at my local craft store, bought it and had it lying around since then. Now I finally got to make something out of it: a neon macrame bracelet. Here’s how you do it! 🙂
Neon trim, you can of course chose whatever colour you like
Cut 4 pieces off your cord: 2 pieces of 52cm length, 1 piece of 155cm length and 1 piece of 35cm lenght
Take your two 51,5cm long pieces and tape them to your table in parallel leaving about 15 cm left to the top, that will help them from moving and therefore it will be easier for you to knot your bracelet.
Now the ”hard” part begins, but don’t worry, once you know how this technique works it’ll be very easy to do.
Center your longest piece of cord (the 155cm cord) under your two pieces taped to the table.
Now take the right cord an put it OVER the two middle strands. Then take the left strand, put it OVER the right strand and the UNDER the two middle strands.
Then pull it through the loop which you created on the right side of the two middle strand.
Now pull tightly to fasten the knot.
Now you’ll need to repeat this step on the other side.
Therefore you will tkae the left cord, put it OVER the two middle strands. Then put the right strand OVER the left strand, UNDER the two middle strands and pull it through the loop on the left side. (NOTE: the last picture of this step is wrong it shows the right strand going OVER the two middle strands, in fact it hast to go UNDER).
Again pull tightly to fasten the knot.
Repeat step 3 and 4 until you rund out of cord.
When you’ve rund out of cord, snip of the excess and with your lighter burn the ends of your cords a little to melt them together and stop them from unraveling.
Now take your ”middle strands” of each side and put them next to eachother. Take your shortest cord (the 35cm one) and center it under the 4 strands. Start knotting the 35cm cord around the 4 strands in the same way you knotted the bracelet (see step 3 and 4).
When you’ve run out of cord, again snip off the excess and burn the ends of the cords.
Now knot the ends of your ”middle strands” together. By pulling on those strands you can fasten the bracelet around your wrist.
I really hope ypu liked this little DIY project 🙂 Have fun with it!
